Evolving Illustrative Style

As Senior Art Director at Starbucks, I worked with the Creative Director of social to evolve the look, feel and style of how illustration shows up on Starbucks social channels. The goal was to bring a more human touch to the visuals, embracing playful hand drawn quirks, and lack of exact symmetry. Everything you see here I illustrated, and conceptualized with my copywriting partner, Lea Bouma.

Leaf Rakers Society

Starbucks runs a Webby award-winning Facebook Group called Leaf Rakers Society, which has over 40,000 members. . This group was created to celebrate the ultimate of fall fandom - folks actively share their autumn-obsessions all year long, as well as trade Starbucks menu tips with each other. Over the years, the group has formed an identity, and even some characters (like Balloony) that are unique to their group, all while Starbucks developed a creative style to developing content to them.
